MMA Day in Toronto (Queens Park)

As you may or may not know, our favourite sport of MMA is not allowed in my home province of Ontario…

MMA Day in Toronto (Queens Park)

Apparently the ‘brutality’ and ‘violence’ is too much to handle – yet boxing and kickboxing are allowed.

Makes complete sense, right?

Yup, I thought so too… NOT! (when was the last time you heard NOT???)

Anyways, my man Jeff Joslin is hosting ‘MMA Day’, which will take place in front of the government buildings in Toronto, which is called Queens Park.

I’ll be heading there to show my support and hopefully get MMA legalized in Ontario so our local fighters can start competing close to home.

It’s probably going to be a long day and whenever I head out to all day events like this and when I get hungry the only options are a) street meat b) pizza c) chips…

That’s no way to stay in peak fighting shape!

So I got a recipe from my buddy Dave’s cookbook… He also goes by the nickname ‘The Muscle Cook’…

Dave is French-Canadian (like GSP) and has a funny accent (like GSP). He’s the dude in the lavendar shirt…

Don’t let the lavendar fool you – dude is a bodybuilder and he’s absolutely jacked.

We were at UFC 113 together where Shogun claimed (or reclaimed) the Middleweight belt with a brutal first round KO.

So here’s what I’ll be taking with me to MMA Day this Saturday instead of snacking on nutrient-less high carb junk food, courtesy of ‘The Muscle Cook’:

‘The Muscle Cook’s’ High Protein Fudge Bars

muscle building fudge(1) MMA Day in Toronto (Queens Park)

8 scoops chocolate whey protein
1 cup dry oats
3 tbsp honey
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup peanut butter
Crushed nuts (I used walnuts)

  1. Evenly combine the whey, oats, honey, milk and peanut butter.
  2. Once it’s all mised, separate out 10 bars and roll them in the crushed nuts.
  3. Stick it in the fridge and they’re ready in about 30 minutes.

25 g protein, 20 g carb and 9 g fat per bar for about 250 calories.

Plus, these bars taste way better than protein bars you’ll buy in the store (less chalky/chemically), they’re much cheaper and they have healthier ingredients.

Bon appetit!

Eric

ps. If you’re in the area and you’re going to be at MMA day, hit me back and we can meet up.
