This poll will be the definitive answer to the age-old question, "Are men better than women?"

We’ll know if this belief still holds true if guys who have 1 year of training under their belt and weigh 150 lbs answer ‘yes’.

I know that light heavyweights and above will all probably unanimously agree that they can (it’s tough to overcome such a big weight difference), but when we get to the welterweight division and below, the question gets a lot murkier, so I want to see what you think.

A few notes about her skills:

  • Started training in 2004
  • Currently has a Purple Belt in BJJ (I believe)
  • Trains at the Chute Boxe Academy
  • About 5′8" tall
  • Fights at 145, but probably walks around at 160 lbs, plus or minus 5 lbs
  • Married to and trains heavily with this guy:

 Could you take Cris Cyborg?

And based on her performance against Jan Finney, it’s clear that she’s got some great power endurance to keep beating on someone for an extended period of time.

BTW - if you didn’t see the fight, here’s the vid from our good friends over at YouTube:

And if you’re at all keen, on top of your vote, leave a comment with some of your stats, including:

  1. Age
  2. Height
  3. Weight
  4. MMA experience
  5. How you’d win/or lose vs. Cyborg

I believe i could knock her out. She cant handle my power i dont think. Im dealing with a herniated disk right now so my power is low and as of today she would tko me. She probably walk through my strikes. But normally i think i could ko her. I think i could do to her what she did to that girl.

I think it’s a lose/lose experience. If you win you beat up a girl and if you lose you got beat up by a girl :) .

She seems to swing for the fences with her strikes, so I’d use a little movement and keep smacking her with the jab and 1-2 combos from outside.

lol this blog post is hilarious Eric.

Anyways, the fact that Eric’s my conditioning coach means that my cardio won’t be a factor so I’d be ready for the entire 3 rounds. I think I finish it in the first though :) .

Hahaha yeah man lose/lose no doubt!

I know you’d use those long arms to keep her at bay then finish her off with one of those nasty straight right hands down the pipe…

The classic Chute Boxe style (think Wanderlei) leaves her open to some devastating power down the middle.

Cris would kill me. And she would also kill Steve no matter how powerful he thinks he is LOL. Cris is just an awesome fighter, I think she is the GSP female edition. She has everything stand up and ground game, tip top conditioning and she just keeps getting better and better.

BTW, I was not at awe seeing Fedor tap. I think he is good but highly overrated in the last few years.

Fedor is one of the greats and has vicious knockout power, but he has been stunned by both Rogers and Arlovski recently, but they could not finish and left their jaws a little too exposed lol

But like he said in the post-fight – he is just a man, it was the media that made him into the god that a lot of people perceived him to be.

No ring experience but plenty of sparring in both muay thai and bjj.

I think given my age and that she would by far have alot more experience than me she would probably win in the stand up – but i think after watching that vid that my strategy would be to avoid boxing with her and focus mainly on my kicks. I think i could beat her in the clinch just because i’d be stronger and taller, but the only way i’d win is to keep my distance and use my reach.

I think that there are 2 ways I could win. First she could trip on a pipe or something as she walked out to the ring ala Kevin Randleman. Second. because of my regrettably rotund body, I could fall on her and crush her.

My weight is 195lbs.
MMA experince is nil. Fighting experience is a few years working security in night clubs, about 8 years on the rugby field, and currently training BJJ for last 2 years – handy white belt for an old guy.

She would win by any number of means. Maybe I could avoid a KO if I could keep it standing and use my reach to keep her fists from my now suspect chin but I think she’d take it down eventually (like after about 30 seconds) and win via either ground and pound or submission. and I’d love every minute of it.

Fedor is still the king. Humble in defeat and still young enough to comeback and take on the best and win.

2010-06-29 09:27:49

I agree – Fedor said himself that he is just a human and it’s everyone else who has been hyping him up…

He did look a little extra soft around the middle this fight too… Although the fact that the fight only lasted a minute or so his fitness wasn’t a factor in his loss…

I have no training experience but I have self taught my moves from using internet. I have played rugby being the top tackler and have a very good knowledge on judo, BJJ, wrestling moves and their counters, professional as well. I think my weight fits my height so I am fit to fight. I do strength training with bench press starting at 40 kg and cardio with at least 45 minutes of walking a day without rest. If I trained and got into a martial art school, I think my skill and strategy could help me win, for now, I’m not so sure but I think my determination is definitely strong enough for me to win.

MMA Experience – Lots of sparring over a time period of around 6 months. Also had previous amateur boxing matches and amateur muay thai bouts.

Have trained extensively in boxing, muay thai and although not having a belt in BJJ, i know and have learned many submissions from the internet, dvds etc and have praticed them in spariing so they work in a real life situation. I believe that i would be able to stick and move and use my heaight and hand speed to keep cyborg off me for the first round. I believe that i would be taken down in the second round but would be able to lock in a guillotine whilst in the middle of cyborg’s takedown attempt (my best submission) and so possibly gain the submission win. Cyborg is a beast though.

I don’t fight girls :) )

Off the main topic, Fedor is an MMA veteran and he has probably accumulated many injuries by now.He doesnt just fight in MMA but in all the Sambo/Judo contests in Russia and the world, therefore further wearing himself out. Also his age is slowly starting to creep in, therefore it is no suprise that he is starting to loose that extra edge which he always had over his opponents.I think that we are still lucky to see him fight these days.My other MMA idol Igor Vovchanchyn had to finish his career long ago because of all the damage he had incurred over the years fighting and if you compare/contrast his fights in the beggining of his career with the end of it, you will see two completely different people.

My 47 years of experience tell me not to fight girls. Jan Finney impressed me that she could take a beating like that from a machine. Cyborg does have some vulnerabilities. She got tagged a few times herself and we really didnt get to see her ground fighting skills. I will leave this one to the professionals. Cyborg is very polished but not unbeatable. Finney may fare better in a rematch.
