This poll will be the definitive answer to the age-old question, “Are men better than women?”

We’ll know if this belief still holds true if guys who have 1 year of training under their belt and weigh 150 lbs answer ‘yes’.

I know that light heavyweights and above will all probably unanimously agree that they can (it’s tough to overcome such a big weight difference), but when we get to the welterweight division and below, the question gets a lot murkier, so I want to see what you think.

A few notes about her skills:

  • Started training in 2004
  • Currently has a Purple Belt in BJJ (I believe)
  • Trains at the Chute Boxe Academy
  • About 5’8″ tall
  • Fights at 145, but probably walks around at 160 lbs, plus or minus 5 lbs
  • Married to and trains heavily with this guy:

And based on her performance against Jan Finney, it’s clear that she’s got some great power endurance to keep beating on someone for an extended period of time.

BTW - if you didn’t see the fight, here’s the vid from our good friends over at YouTube:

And if you’re at all keen, on top of your vote, leave a comment with some of your stats, including:

  1. Age
  2. Height
  3. Weight
  4. MMA experience
  5. How you’d win/or lose vs. Cyborg

Can’t wait to read your comments below!

MMA EXPERIENCE: MMA 1 1/2 YEARS, BOXING 5 YEARS AND 30 FIGHTS + PROVINCIAL, GOLDEN GLOVES, WESTERN CANADIAN, AND CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIP TITLES, AROUND 200+ STREET FIGHTS WITH NO LOSSES (MAJORITY OF STREET FIGHTS DONE ONE PUNCH)
YEAH I’M PRETTY SURE I WOULD KO HER FIRST ROUND NO DOUBT WITH REACH, FOOTWORK, TIMING, AND SUPERIOR PUNCHES N BOXING SKILLS, AND SUPERIOR PUNCHING POWER.

  2. John Jergsen

Man I would pay to see that fight. I mean you outweigh her by like 70+lbs (I think she walks around at 160lbs). I dont think it would be as easy as you think. I think you would have be pretty damn athletic to beat her. That being said, I think you would probably have a 50/50 chance at your size.

    23 years old, 130 lbs, 5’7″

If I actually signed up for this fight, I’m sure she would kick my derrière in about 20 seconds. But I would never sign up. She scares the Hades outta me.

  4. john coughlan

Ok,its no good just saying yeah I could take her out on the net.
But I know for sure I would smash her to pieces in the most brutal fashion, that you guys have probably not even seen yet!.

But then as a guy,I will be in a no win situation, because she is a woman. If she wins, she has beaten a guy,hey she is so tough yayaya,But I beat her and hey of course I’m a bully because I’m a guy.
Also I would have to cut weight, I’m 224!.(but if she wanted to prove herself and take me on at that weight, lets go!:o)

But I’m 100% serious that I could smash her so badly that she may never be licensed to fight again.(wheelchair times for her)If someone could arrange the fight,I will pay all my own expenses and I will travel to the USA to prove my point.
I can be contacted at Mortalrecords@aol.com

I’d submit via rear naked face sit in the 3rd round.

  6. Tim

No but really id probably get spanked lol she’d win by 2nd round submission hair pull…

  7. Tim

Theres only one way to find out…Bring it Cyborg!!

    5’10
    155 lbs
train in muy thai and bjj
marathon runner so cardio is fine

    When and where.

  8. D

Couldn’t get myself to hit a girl so have to take it to the ground. My ground game is weak so Cyborg to win first round submission while I go and cry in the corner because I just got beat by a girl haha

  9. john coughlan

Ok here is my challenge and I’m 100% serious.
I will fight her in any country at any time.
I’m from the UK,personally I think she is either a sex change or a guy.

I am 100% real and a martial artist for over 30 years in Jeet Kune Do (Chinese: 截拳道,). Furthermore she wont get past 2 rounds,I promise.
please contact me for further information.
    I challenge him/her seriously.
you may also film the bout and wish no money whatsoever,
I will fight her for free.
    John Coughlan UK.

  14. Wayne Magruder

My 47 years of experience tell me not to fight girls. Jan Finney impressed me that she could take a beating like that from a machine. Cyborg does have some vulnerabilities. She got tagged a few times herself and we really didnt get to see her ground fighting skills. I will leave this one to the professionals. Cyborg is very polished but not unbeatable. Finney may fare better in a rematch.

I would ko her….just to strong….counter on her wild punching…but one is in a no win situation with a female…if you win, you should have your a guy and a bully for fighting a female…if you lose, your a pussy for losing to a female…now if I stood to make a few bucks and get publicity/free marketing for my business then it would make sense…and I mean no disrespect, shes a freakin animal!

How you’d win/or lose vs. Cyborg: I would win by giving her the nastiest Chinese Burn to her left forearm that she has ever had until she taps out…. Of course I’d film it and post it on youtube!!!!

    Eric Reply:

Oh man, Chinese burn is the best move that I’ve never seen used in MMA!

This is a fun question:) Karate black belt, seven full contact fights, training since age 9. 2 Years og bjj(blue belt). 1 year of MMA, only sparring fights. I dont see myself loose. I would need first round to feel her out(not up, shes a man), then TKO her early second round. LOL.

  22. Nikolay

    I don’t fight girls :))

Off the main topic, Fedor is an MMA veteran and he has probably accumulated many injuries by now.He doesnt just fight in MMA but in all the Sambo/Judo contests in Russia and the world, therefore further wearing himself out. Also his age is slowly starting to creep in, therefore it is no suprise that he is starting to loose that extra edge which he always had over his opponents.I think that we are still lucky to see him fight these days.My other MMA idol Igor Vovchanchyn had to finish his career long ago because of all the damage he had incurred over the years fighting and if you compare/contrast his fights in the beggining of his career with the end of it, you will see two completely different people.

    Height – 186cm
    Weight – 175lbs
MMA Experience – Lots of sparring over a time period of around 6 months. Also had previous successful amateur boxing matches and amateur muay thai bouts.

Have trained extensively in boxing, muay thai and although not having a belt in BJJ, i know and have learned many submissions from the internet, dvds etc and have praticed them in spariing so they work in a real life situation. I believe that i would be able to stick and move and use my heaight and hand speed to keep cyborg off me for the first round. I believe that i would be taken down in the second round but would be able to lock in a guillotine whilst in the middle of cyborg’s takedown attempt (my best submission) and so possibly gain the submission win. Cyborg is a beast though.

    Billy Reply:

No offense intended by this, but if you still think guillotines are a viable solution while in the middle of a takedown you’re fucked against a high level grappler. She’s not gonna take you down and lay in your guard…

    Age: 18
    Height: 5’7.5″
    Weight: 75 kg
I have no training experience but I have self taught my moves from using internet. I have played rugby being the top tackler and have a very good knowledge on judo, BJJ, wrestling moves and their counters, professional as well. I think my weight fits my height so I am fit to fight. I do strength training with bench press starting at 40 kg and cardio with at least 45 minutes of walking a day without rest. If I trained and got into a martial art school, I think my skill and strategy could help me win, for now, I’m not so sure but I think my determination is definitely strong enough for me to win.

  26. Wolf

    Age: 24
    Height: 1,85 m
    Weight: 105 kg

I did Judo, Ju Justu and I’m still doing JKD since 2007, but I got no contest experience, so this would be hard for me to win. I think she’ll win by decision.

  27. cork_boi

    My age is 33
    My hieght is 5’7″
    My wieght is 170 lbs.

Mid Teens to Early 2o’s: Blue Belt TKD, Boxing in College, Yellow Belt in Judo, and Purple Sash in Kung Fu…about 8 years socialising and travelling… Muay Thai for about 18 months, MMA for about 6 months.

I would beat Cyborg by repeating head butting her fist with my face.
Alternatively I would kick her in the nuts… c’mon is she really a women? Unnatural.

  28. Sam

No fights in MMA. It doesn’t matter what I do or have trained in she would slap me like a red headed step child!!

    Sam Reply:

She would beat her husbands ass too!!

    Eric Reply:

Damn, I didn’t know red headed step children had it so tough… :P

  29. Greg

    My age is 45
    My height is 6′2″.
    My weight is 195lbs.
MMA experince is nil. Fighting experience is a few years working security in night clubs, about 8 years on the rugby field, and currently training BJJ for last 2 years – handy white belt for an old guy.

She would win by any number of means. Maybe I could avoid a KO if I could keep it standing and use my reach to keep her fists from my now suspect chin but I think she’d take it down eventually (like after about 30 seconds) and win via either ground and pound or submission. and I’d love every minute of it.

Fedor is still the king. Humble in defeat and still young enough to comeback and take on the best and win.

    Eric Reply:

I agree – Fedor said himself that he is just a human and it’s everyone else who has been hyping him up…

He did look a little extra soft around the middle this fight too… Although the fact that the fight only lasted a minute or so his fitness wasn’t a factor in his loss…

  30. Jeffery

    Age:42
    Height:5’4″
    Weight:192
    MMA Experience: None

I think that there are 2 ways I could win. First she could trip on a pipe or something as she walked out to the ring ala Kevin Randleman. Second. because of my regrettably rotund body, I could fall on her and crush her.

Realistically, I would be the first person to ever tap out due to staredown.. she frightens me.

    Eric Reply:

    LOL!!

  31. Mark

    Age: 17
    Height: Round 6’2″
    Weight: 156 give or take
No ring experience but plenty of sparring in both muay thai and bjj.

I think given my age and that she would by far have alot more experience than me she would probably win in the stand up – but i think after watching that vid that my strategy would be to avoid boxing with her and focus mainly on my kicks. I think i could beat her in the clinch just because i’d be stronger and taller, but the only way i’d win is to keep my distance and use my reach.

  32. Josh Smith

    Age: 17
    Height: 5’8″
    Weight: 145
NO MMA Experience just reflex bag and wrestling with my cuzin and older brother

She would crush me first round, second round I would come out and she would GNP me for a little bit then i would catch her in a triangle. So I would win :)

  33. Lance

    age 25
    height 6′
    weight 200lbs
    no mma
    a little boxing and jiu-jitsu

I would lose by ferocious beating that would go on far far too long before the ref stepped in. I would act tough in the ring for a while after the fight, I would cry after(back stage interviews, dressing room ex.)

  34. I never mentioned what I think my chances would be – I think Cyborg would crush me – she’s a purple belt in BJJ and has been dedicating her life to training for the past 6 years at a good academy (Chute Boxe)…

My white belt in BJJ and raw boxing skills I think would get quickly exposed if matched up against her.

I’d like to think I can keep her on the outside and use my power to win tko/ko, I’d expect her to be fast and strong and would def. want to avoid the ground game with her, that said, I think she is an awesome fighter and a huge role model for me and my wife!

    terry Reply:

just wanted to add that if I was under 185 I think she would definatley put a beating on me for truth.

Mrs. Cyborg will TKO the crap outta me, but only after I gas. (doing sprint laps around the cage takes its toll when you’re crying). Probably from back mount (it’s more honourable, I can hide my tears).

My reflexes suck. My eye-balls would be rolling on the floor after the first punch which would take, oh, about one second.

Cris would kill me. And she would also kill Steve no matter how powerful he thinks he is LOL. Cris is just an awesome fighter, I think she is the GSP female edition. She has everything stand up and ground game, tip top conditioning and she just keeps getting better and better.

BTW, I was not at awe seeing Fedor tap. I think he is good but highly overrated in the last few years.

    Eric Reply:

Fedor is one of the greats and has vicious knockout power, but he has been stunned by both Rogers and Arlovski recently, but they could not finish and left their jaws a little too exposed lol

But like he said in the post-fight – he is just a man, it was the media that made him into the god that a lot of people perceived him to be.

I think it’s a lose/lose experience. If you win you beat up a girl and if you lose you got beat up by a girl :).

She seems to swing for the fences with her strikes, so I’d use a little movement and keep smacking her with the jab and 1-2 combos from outside.

lol this blog post is hilarious Eric.

Anyways, the fact that Eric’s my conditioning coach means that my cardio won’t be a factor so I’d be ready for the entire 3 rounds. I think I finish it in the first though :).

    Eric Reply:

Hahaha yeah man lose/lose no doubt!

I know you’d use those long arms to keep her at bay then finish her off with one of those nasty straight right hands down the pipe…

The classic Chute Boxe style (think Wanderlei) leaves her open to some devastating power down the middle.

    Weight: 237 lbs.
    My MMA experience is nill.

I would absolutely destroy the cyborg even with zero mma experience. I am super atheletic and move as fast as most 185 lbs men. My power would be wayyyy too much for her to handle. She might be able to handle rake thin girls like Finney but there is no way she could handle the power of an athletic man of my size. One punch on the chin she would be out. If not I would just take her to ground with ease.
