black-everlast-med-ballWhen it comes to developing explosive power for KO punches, kicks, and brutal ground and pound, nothing beats medicine ball training. The med ball is also very versatile since you can use it for many different modes of training on top of pure power.

Now that you know how to use the medicine ball effectively, take advantage of the following resources to improve your knockout power, anaerobic lactic endurance, neuromuscular co-ordination, and more.

There are 2 basic types of medicine balls to use: those that don’t bounce and those that do.

  1. Med balls that don’t bounce are useful for training indoors because they won’t bounce around and injure somebody
  2. Med balls that do bounce are better for outdoor exercises if you want to throw the ball against a wall so it comes back to you, or if you want to throw the ball and retrieve it like in medicine ball interval training routines

So depending on your situation and where you’ll use the ball more, pick the ball that’s suitable for you.

One thing I CAN’T STAND is when people use medicine balls for basic exercises that you could use a dumbbell for and call it a medicine ball exercise. That’s so fucking stupid I can’t even talk about it anymore so I’ll leave it at that.
